Frontline diplomacy.Standing tall for Israel in New York.
Ofir Akunis is Israel's Consul General in New York, a former minister and Knesset member now leading Israel's public diplomacy across the northeastern United States.

About
Hi, I am Ofir Akunis.
I bring Israel's case to the world stage, in plain words and with steady resolve.
For fifteen years I served in the Knesset and held senior ministerial posts, including Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology. My work covered economic reform, scientific cooperation, and the ties built by the Abraham Accords.
Since May 2024 I serve as Consul General of Israel in New York, leading the consulate across five states. The focus is student safety on campus, honest public diplomacy, and stronger economic bridges with the United States.
Journey
From Tel Aviv to Fifth Avenue.
From Tel Aviv schoolyards to the Consulate on Second Avenue, my story in my words.
1973 to 1991
Tel Aviv Roots
I was born on May 28, 1973 in Tel Aviv, to a Greek Sephardic father and a Polish mother. At the Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium I found my voice as a youth correspondent for Maariv LaNoar.
